St. Dominic’s Team Member Named among Catholic Health Association’s 2024 Class of Tomorrow’s Leaders

June 18, 2024

The Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA) has announced Dan Woods as part of the 2024 Class of Tomorrow’s Leaders. Dan, senior director of emergency services and hospital throughput at St. Dominic Hospital, joins eleven other emerging leaders from across the country in receiving this honor. The honorees were recognized during Assembly 2024.

“Dan embodies the seven commitments articulated by CHA for the Catholic health care ministry,” said Sister Karina Dickey, vice president of mission integration, St. Dominic’s. “A fast-paced emergency department can be an incredibly challenging setting to promote human dignity, attend to the whole person, and care for poor and vulnerable persons. Not only is Dan personally responsive to patients and their loved ones, his calm and effective leadership assures that all staff grow in their ability to manifest these commitments.”

The Tomorrow’s Leaders Program was created in 2011 to identify and recognize promising young leaders who will provide strong leadership and dedication to Catholic health care. Each class consists of an impressive cadre of dedicated, high-performing individuals who already have demonstrated commitment to advancing the healing mission. Nominees for the Tomorrow’s Leaders Program must be currently working in a ministry organization and must be age 40 or younger at time of nomination.

"Receiving this award is a tremendous honor, and I feel like we all earned it,” said Woods. “It’s the leaders, colleagues and teams who support me in continuing to try new ideas and push innovation forward. It underscores our collective efforts at St. Dominic’s to stay at the forefront and pioneer approaches to enhance patient care and experience."

The annual Catholic Health Assembly is the largest gathering of Catholic health care leaders in the United States. This two-and-a-half-day event is hosted in an interactive platform where attendees engage with speakers, connect with colleagues, and create new friendships.
