Our Lady of Lourdes Blood Donor Center

Be a Hero – It’s In Your Blood

Ensuring we have a stable blood supply is essential to care for our patients and community. Thank you to all the blood donors who continue to answer the call to give.

Did you know one pint of whole blood can be separated into several components (red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma, platelets and cryoprecipitate), and a single, whole blood donation can save the lives of three people.

We rely on volunteer donors for our blood supply. These donors do more than give blood — they play a key role in the healthcare process, giving the doctors and nurses in our area a tool that helps save lives.

Learn more about blood donation across our health system. Please consider donating blood today.

What to Expect When You Donate Blood

When you arrive at Our Lady of Lourdes Blood Donor Center our staff will make every effort to accommodate you as soon as possible. First, you will be asked to complete the donor registration/medical history form.

The blood donation process takes about 30 minutes from the time you check in to the time you leave. The actual blood collection takes only about 10 minutes. For other donation types, the process (from arrival to departure) takes approximately:

  • 45 minutes to collect two units of red blood cells
  • 90 minutes to collect apheresis platelets

After you donate, you'll be given a light refreshment.

You may donate every eight weeks (up to six times a year) at the Blood Donor Center or a mobile drive. No appointment is necessary.

Neighborhood Blood Drives

Thank you for your interest in hosting or supporting one of our neighborhood-hosted blood drives. Our center is in urgent need of all types of blood right now, so we thank you for your willingness to donate.

Our Lady of Lourdes Blood Center has three mobile units fully equipped for blood collection throughout the community. If your business or group has an interest in conducting a blood drive, contact us at (337) 470-GIVE(4483). For questions or more information about hosting a drive, email givelife@fmolhs.org or call (337) 470-GIVE(4483).

Without the generosity and commitment from donors like you, there would not be enough blood on the hospital shelves for patients who desperately need it. Our Lady of Lourdes Blood Center is grateful, and in turn, we have made a commitment to provide respect, safety convenience and confidentiality for donors.

Although you and your family may never need blood, immediate access to safe blood will be available for you only if healthy people continue to donate. We encourage all who can give help maintain an adequate supply. You may donate whole blood every eight weeks and up to six times per year.

Our Lady of Lourdes Blood Center offers many important programs for private and community donations such as:

Lourdes Replacement Plan is a way you and others interested in helping can reduce an Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital bill or St. Mary's Imaging Center bill by donating. For every unit of blood donated as a replacement for someone (whether they receive blood or not), a credit will be applied to their bill.

Credits can be applied toward accounts at:

Donation Type Credit Amount
