Many, but not all, insurance plans cover weight loss surgery, which may limit your available options. Also, insurance providers may require psychological, cardiac, sleep and other screenings prior to considering your eligibility for surgical or non-surgical treatment. Our team can help you discover what’s covered, what’s required and what options are available.
Some people can lose weight on their own. Others need additional support. Your insurance provider may require you to try losing weight once more before approving a provider to assist with your journey. Our team, which includes a patient navigator and registered dietitian, can help design a nutrition and exercise plan just right for you, your health and your lifestyle. We also provide the encouragement and other tools you may need, like our monthly Bariatric Support Group, to ensure success.
Your insurance plan may cover weight loss surgery, but there also may be requirements before the insurance provider approves your surgery. Review your policy terms and coverage. You may need a cardiologist or sleep medicine specialist to clear you for surgery. You may be required to undergo additional testing or make certain lifestyle changes. Not all policies are the same. Likewise, not all policy requirements are the same.
There may be out-of-pocket expenses for certain required services before your surgery can be scheduled. Psychological evaluations, for instance, are required but may not be covered by insurance. Some costs associated with your surgery and hospital stay, also, may need to be paid before your surgery date. Review your policy terms and coverage to better understand what these costs may be.
Remember, surgery isn’t the only option.
Even if you do not have insurance coverage or your plan denies the procedure, we still can help you lose weight. We have cash prices available for bariatric procedures and medically supervised weight loss services available. Call (337) 470-3981 to connect with your patient navigator for more details.
