Inside the Transformation: New Video Shows Progress on FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake’s $55 Million Emergency Department Renovation

September 03, 2026

BATON ROUGE, La. – A new video highlights construction progress on FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center’s $55 million Emergency Department Reimagination project.

The multi-phase project will expand capacity, improve patient flow, and incorporate advanced technology to support emergency and trauma care. Renovated treatment areas will provide greater privacy, safety, and comfort for patients while creating a more efficient environment for care teams.

“This renovation will allow us to care for approximately 30,000 additional patients each year in a space designed around how emergency care is delivered,” said Mark Laperouse, MD, medical director of emergency services at FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake. “With critical-care bays, dedicated treatment pods and faster access to imaging, surgery and intensive care, our teams will be able to move patients more efficiently through every stage of care.”

The Emergency Department remains fully open and operational 24/7 throughout construction. Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, the region’s only Level I Trauma Center, continues to provide uninterrupted emergency and trauma care. Patients should follow posted campus signage for current entrances and registration locations.
