Expecting Something Big for Acadiana's Families: Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital Reveals Their Big Plans for the Women & Children of Acadiana

May 14, 2024

Lafayette, LA— Today, Our Lady of Lourdes Health unveiled its Advancing Acadiana growth plan, a bold vision to meet the growing needs of the region. The move allows them to treat patients in the right place, with the right resources, at the right time, designed to deliver exceptional quality and patient experience.

This strategy and its series of projects represent the local health system’s commitment to invest nearly $100 million across all its campuses over the next three to five years.

The multi-phased plan will begin at Our Lady of Lourdes Women's & Children’s Hospital. At the heart of this project is a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, complete with private family suites designed to keep loved ones close during critical moments, a modernized labor and delivery experience, a new Mother Baby unit and a transformation of the women's medical/surgical unit. The project will also include notable exterior improvements.

“The Advancing Acadiana Project is more than buildings; it is a pledge to advance the health, to nurture the future, and to cherish the community that we are privileged to serve,” said Stephanie Manson, president, Our Lady of Lourdes Health. “Each facet of this initiative is designed to ensure that every patient receives the highest standard of care in an environment of warmth, comfort, and excellence.”

Since 2019 when Our Lady of Lourdes acquired Women’s & Children’s Hospital from HCA, they have been fully committed to improving its facilities and services. From the establishment of the Ronald McDonald Family Room to the adoption of cutting-edge surgical technology such as the new da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system, and the expansion of pediatric services by incorporating numerous pediatric providers into the hospital's expanding physician enterprise, each initiative demonstrates the hospital's unwavering dedication to children and families across Acadiana. These efforts exemplify the hospital's commitment to cultivating an environment that reflects the exceptional care delivered by its devoted team.

“Investing in the well-being of our community is essential,” said Kenneth Habetz, MD, pediatric neurologist and associate chief medical officer at Our Lady of Lourdes Health. “This will be the largest and most ambitious project on this campus since its inception. These new and modern facilities will give our families a chance to feel a little bit more at home when they’re at their weakest and most vulnerable.”

With a vision firmly set on the future, Our Lady of Lourdes Health reaffirms its dedication to advancing healthcare in Acadiana.
