Jackson, Miss - FMOL Health | St. Dominic is proud to announce the opening of their Obstetrics Emergency Department (OB-ED), a first-of-its-kind service for the hospital. The OB-ED provides around-the-clock emergency care for expectant mothers 20 weeks and beyond, as well as women up to six weeks postpartum.
“At FMOL Health | St. Dominic, our team is ready to provide immediate pregnancy and postpartum care when you need it most,” said Tracey Smithson, chief nursing officer, FMOL Health | St. Dominic. “We recognize that emergencies don’t wait for office hours. We are excited to be able to offer an enhanced level of 24/7 OB support to the women in our community.”
The new eight-bed OB-ED provides immediate care for all pregnancy-related emergencies. Whether it’s a sudden complication or urgent medical attention, the St. Dominic OB-ED team is equipped with advanced technology and the expertise to respond swiftly and compassionately. This specialized unit, located on the 5th floor adjacent to Labor & Delivery, is staffed 24/7 by board-certified OB/GYNs, offering faster assessment, treatment and discharge compared to a general ER.
