Our Lady of Lourdes Earns An ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade Again from The Leapfrog Group

November 06, 2023

New Grade for Fall 2023 is a national recognition for patient safety

Leapfrog Hospital Safety BadgeLAFAYETTE, LA, November 6, 2023 –Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center has again earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center also received the “A” Grade during the Spring 2023 making it the only hospital in Lafayette to receive back-to-back top safety grades this year from the Leapfrog Group.

“We are so proud of our team for consecutively receiving a grade ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group,” said Stephanie Manson, President, Our Lady of Lourdes Health. “This recognition exemplifies our commitment to provide safe, high-quality care to our patients in our community every day. Last survey period, 29 percent of hospitals in the country achieved an ‘A’ grade, and it is an honor to be part of such an elite group of hospitals at the national level once again."

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.

“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center made a true commitment to put patients first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
