Our Lady of Lourdes Tops Fundraisers for the 2022 Heart Walk

May 02, 2022

Our Lady of Lourdes took several top honors at the 2022 Greater Acadiana Heart Walk held April 30 in River Ranch Town Square.

The team’s 132 registered walkers raised $18,356 for the American Heart Association and was named the top fundraising team for the event. The team, DeWitt’s Heart & Sole, also received the Best Team Shirt award, and Dr. R. Chance DeWitt, cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon with Our Lady of Lourdes, was honored for his service as 2022 event Chair.

Funds raised literally help save lives. Support for the Heart Walk contributes directly to scientific breakthroughs like pacemakers, cardiac stents and artificial heart valves that keep people alive longer.

Preparations for the annual event began in January. A month later, American Heart Month, Our Lady of Lourdes sponsored the agency’s Go Red for Women annual luncheon. Mini-Heart Walks kicked off on Fridays in April to help team members prepare for the big day and take a step toward better heart health.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2022 event, and a special thank you to Whitney Busscher, Our Lady of Lourdes team captain for the second year in a row!
