Three FMOL Health Hospitals Earn Leapfrog’s “A” for the Seventh Consecutive Cycle
June 01, 2026
Baton Rouge, LA — FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, FMOL Health | Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake St. Elizabeth have each earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for the seventh consecutive cycle, reflecting a sustained commitment to the systems, accountability and teamwork required to keep patients safe.
FMOL Health | St. Francis Medical Center and FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Angels Hospital also received “A” grades, marking the second consecutive time each hospital has earned Leapfrog’s highest safety distinction. With those results, every FMOL Health market in Louisiana had a facility earn Leapfrog’s top safety grade this cycle.
While the grade is awarded twice a year, the work behind it happens every day. It is built through thousands of decisions across every hospital, unit and department — from bedside care and infection prevention to medication safety, surgical protocols, environmental services, quality monitoring and team communication.
“At FMOL Health, patient safety is not a moment or a milestone. It is a discipline our teams live every day,” said E.J. Kuiper, president and chief executive officer of FMOL Health. “These “A” grades reflect the consistency, accountability and collaboration it takes across our hospitals to create safe environments for every patient, every time.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade evaluates hospitals on measures tied to preventable errors, accidents, injuries and infections. For FMOL Health, the recognition underscores a long-term commitment to strengthening systems of care, supporting frontline teams and continually improving how care is delivered.
That effort includes standardizing best practices, closely tracking quality and safety data, reinforcing evidence-based protocols and empowering team members to speak up, collaborate and respond quickly when patient needs change. It also reflects the work of teams across the organization — including clinicians, support staff, leaders and operational partners — who help create a culture where safety remains central to every patient experience.
“This recognition matters because it reflects the work happening behind the scenes and at the bedside every day,” said Dr. Chris Thomas, vice president and chief quality officer of FMOL Health. “Safe care requires vigilance, trust and a shared commitment to doing the right thing at every level of the organization. Our teams have worked hard to build that culture, and we remain focused on advancing it.”
As part of FMOL Health, these hospitals are connected through a shared mission to deliver the best care possible with compassion, excellence and accountability. Across the health system, that commitment continues to shape how care is designed, delivered and improved for the communities we serve.
