Our inpatient and outpatient nutritional services offer the tools required to enjoy a healthier lifestyle. One of our registered dietitians can assist you in developing a personal plan that will meet your needs and achieve your individual goals whether you are an inpatient or referred to one of our outpatient programs.
Our outpatient nutrition services provide medical nutrition therapy and/or health and wellness sessions, as well as a recognized diabetes self-management education and support program. If you are an inpatient and require specialized nutrition, your doctor will order a nutrition consult and you will be seen by our clinical dietitian. Participation in one of our outpatient services requires a referral from your primary care provider.
A diabetes self-management education and support program is designed to assist you with the knowledge, skills and ability necessary for pre-diabetes or diabetes self-care, as well as activities that can help you manage these conditions. Our team of certified diabetic educators, registered nurses and registered dietitans can provide the education and support you need to thrive. Our program is recommended for those with Type I, Type II, gestational diabetes or prediabetes. The program at Our Lady of the Angels is recognized by the American Diabetes Association.
Physician referral is required for enrollment in the diabetes self-management education and support program. In most cases, insurance will assist with the cost of this program. Co-pays and deductibles may apply. In Bogalusa, call the Outpatient Nutrition Department at (985) 730-7177 for more information.
