Our Lady of Lourdes Heart Hospital ER

Emergency Cardiac Care When Seconds Count

Time matters, especially during a heart-related emergency. Our Lady of Lourdes Heart Hospital provides comprehensive heart emergency services supported by a Heart Emergency Center, emergency angioplasty capabilities and a heart surgery team. We are a full-service Emergency Room fully equipped with cutting-edge technology and an experienced, award-winning team to perform angioplasty, open heart surgery and many other emergency heart procedures, so there is no need to transfer to another facility. We have a CV Stat® and an emergency referral and transport program providing care to outlying communities.

Health-related issues don’t happen only during normal business hours, and in a major emergency, every second counts. With four emergency rooms across Acadiana, fast, convenient emergency care is only minutes away any time of the day or night.

Our Lady of Lourdes Emergency Centers have:

  • All Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physicians and Cardiologists available/on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • 100% RN nursing staff with accreditations in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support.
  • Response times for heart attacks and strokes that consistently beat national benchmark times.
  • Technology such as video laryngoscope for difficult intubations, quick scan ultrasound to start difficult IVs and rule out life-threatening organ involvement in times of trauma, and wireless EKG with Acadian Ambulance to be prepped for testing upon arrival.

Chest Discomfort

Heart attacks often involve discomfort in the center of the chest—a feeling of fullness or uncomfortable pressure or squeezing—that lasts more than a few minutes or goes away and comes back.

Upper Body Discomfort

Symptoms can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, back, neck, jaw or stomach.

Shortness of Breath

Often accompanied by chest discomfort, shortness of breath can also occur before chest discomfort begins.

Other Signs

Other signs of heart attack include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or light-headedness.

If you experience one or more of these signs, don't wait. Call 911. The earlier these issues are caught, the less damage it can do to your heart and other parts of your body.
