Inpatient Transfers & Direct Admits

Please take the following steps to initiate the direct admit process.

Available M-F 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Due to the No Surprises Act, all admissions must be screened for network status with their insurance provider. If out of network, patients must be provided proper notification of out-of-network status. To initiate this screening:

  • Call (601) 200-2777
    Provide the EPIC Medical Record Number* or Fax a face sheet with a clinic note* attached to (601) 200-5444. *The clinic note should clearly state why the patient needs to be admitted to the hospital.
  • Following insurance verification, you will talk with the hospitalist, nurse practitioner or physician on call to arrange direct admission (unless you have admitting privileges).
    The target for call to decision time is < 30 minutes.

Direct admits should present to Hospital Registration/Admissions for bed placement no later than 4 p.m. Unless there is concern for stability, patients do not need to present to the ED for evaluation between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
