St. Francis Medical Center Earns Reaccreditation as a Center of Excellence and Leader in Robotic Surgery
March 01, 2024
Monroe, LA - St. Francis Medical Center recently achieved reaccreditation from Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery. This reaccreditation recognizes St. Francis Medical Center’s ongoing commitment and high standard of delivery of quality patient care and safety in the field of robotic surgery. The medical center has proudly held this accreditation since 2021, showcasing years of dedication to excellence.
“This accomplishment is a reflection of our enduring commitment to excellence, innovation and the highest standards of patient care,” said Thomas Gullatt, MD, President of St. Francis Health. “St. Francis Medical Center has been at the forefront of robotic surgery in the Northeast Louisiana region, and this reaccreditation affirms our dedication to providing our community with state-of-the-art medical services.”
Status as a reaccredited Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery means St. Francis Medical Center has demonstrated continued adherence to nationally and internationally recognized standards in this specialized area. Not all hospitals and surgeons seek reaccreditation; not all that undergo the rigorous inspection process are granted reaccreditation.
“Our medical team has worked tirelessly to integrate the latest innovations in robotic surgery, ensuring our patients receive the most effective and minimally invasive treatments available,” said John Bruchhaus, MD, Chief Medical Officer at St. Francis Health. “This reaccreditation reflects our dedication to providing high-quality healthcare that makes a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve.”
Healthcare facilities and surgeons seeking an SRC reaccreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure the applicant meets SRC’s proven standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education, and continuous quality assessment. Inspectors educate staff in the accredited departments on best practices to help the organization improve its care and services.
“We’re proud to recognize St. Francis Medical Center for its ongoing commitment to advancing and providing quality care in robotic surgery for all patients,” said Gary M. Pratt, CEO of SRC. “This reaccreditation signals that this facility is among the best in this specialty and is dedicated to delivering the highest level of care possible.”
