Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute Honors Cancer Community Throughout June for Cancer Survivor Month
June 30, 2025
Baton Rouge, LA – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute celebrated Cancer Survivor month this June through various events aimed at honoring survivors, patients and their families. The Cancer Institute, part of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS), hosts events annually to recognize the courage and strength of those affected by cancer in the Baton Rouge community.
“It is our mission and our honor to support all who are affected by this disease,” said Susan Foret, vice president of Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute. “For those recently diagnosed and throughout your treatment journey, and into your Survivorship, we are here for you! We celebrate your strength in every step of your journey.”
Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute hosted two “Celebrate Life” events this month. Activities included guest speakers, prayer, music, family activities and even therapy animals. Both events shared a common goal — to celebrate the lives of all those affected by cancer in Baton Rouge.
“These events personify our mission, which calls us to create a Spirit of Healing, and to show reverence, love and joyfulness to those we are privileged to serve,” said Gerald Miletello, MD, hematology oncology physician with Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute.
