FMOL Health Provides Life-Saving Nutrition Aid Through Donation to Community Partners
October 28, 2025
Jackson, MS — Today, FMOL Health, the parent organization of St. Dominic Hospital, announced a $100,000 donation for nutritional aid through a commitment to community partner, Stewpot Community Services. The gift will help fund food pantry donations and meals for those most in need at a critical time.
“Our healing ministry extends beyond the bounds of providing healthcare to our patients and the communities we are privileged to serve,” said E.J. Kuiper, President and CEO, FMOL Health. “Providing access to vital nutrition and healthy foods aligns with our mission and commitment to the Greater Jackson Community, and we encourage other organizations to consider supporting those most in need during this time.”
With the potential of a temporary suspension of November SNAP benefits set to affect 384,800 Mississippians, the donation to Stewpot Community Services will provide nutrition and help prevent hunger-related health impacts.
"The link between food insecurity and poor health outcomes like uncontrolled diabetes and hypertension is well documented," said Jeremy Tinnerello, President, FMOL Health | St. Dominic. “By investing in Stewpot during this critical period, we’re leveraging 'food as medicine' to support our communities’ health.”
Stewpot, at 1100 W. Capitol St. in Jackson, currently serves around 700 underserved individuals monthly, via its pantry, Community Kitchen and Meals on Wheels program for homebound seniors. FMOL Health | St. Dominic also operates a free health clinic within the Stewpot footprint, offering primary care to low-income families and individuals experiencing homelessness. Staffed by a consultative family practice physician, a full-time family nurse practitioner, a medical assistant, counselor, security, and volunteer nurses and physicians, the Sister Trinita Community Clinic provides services free of charge, five days a week, with no appointment necessary.
“One in five children in Mississippi are already experiencing food insecurity — a reality that threatens developmental health,” added Rev. Jill Buckley, executive director at Stewpot. “This support ensures vulnerabilities aren’t worsened by the SNAP lapse.”
Hospitals partnering with food pantries have seen stabilized patient health markers, such as improved blood pressure and blood sugar levels, by strengthening nutrition access. FMOL Health continues to encourage team members, patients and community members to join efforts through monetary donations, food drives and volunteerism.
