FMOL Health | St. Dominic Proudly Welcomes Cardiothoracic Surgeon Craig Adams, MD, to Cardiovascular Unit

JACKSON, Miss. — FMOL Health | St. Dominic proudly welcomes Craig Adams, MD, a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon with more than 30 years of experience, to its cardiovascular unit. Dr. Adams’ addition further strengthens the hospital’s advanced heart and thoracic surgery services and its focus on delivering high-quality cardiovascular care to patients across central Mississippi.
Dr. Adams brings extensive expertise in complex cardiac surgery, including coronary artery bypass procedures, heart valve repair and replacement, and surgical treatment of diseases affecting the
chest, lungs, and major blood vessels. Dr. Adams has a long-standing commitment to the state of Mississippi for the past 17 years with intentions of remaining in-state until retirement from clinical practice.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Doctor of Medicine from Georgetown University and completed his general surgery internship and residency at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He then completed his cardiothoracic surgery research fellowship at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation and a residency in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery , Dr. Adams has maintained multiple recertifications throughout his career. He islicensed in Mississippi and is a member of the American Medical Association, the Mississippi State Medical Society , and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Adams has served in numerous physician leadership roles, including Chief of Staff, Chairman of Surgery, Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Director of Cardiac Surgery, and Director of Pediatric and Adult Burn Intensive Care Unit at hospitals across Mississippi, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Washington, D.C.

Dr. Adams has contributed to cardiothoracic research, presented at national and regional forums and was recognized early in his career with the Ernst A. Gould, MD Surgical House Officer Award for Excellence.
