Jubilee Year of St. Francis

A Sacred Season. A Living Legacy.

From January 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027, the Catholic Church marks a special Jubilee Year — a season of renewal, reconciliation and hope — honoring the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi.

St. Francis died in 1226. His legacy lives on. Remembered for his love of God, his care for the poor and his reverence for all of creation, he sought to live the Gospel simply, joyfully and without reservation. That witness has shaped countless communities and institutions across eight centuries — including our own.

FMOL Health is a ministry founded by the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady and rooted in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. This Jubilee Year is more than a commemoration for us. It is an invitation to reflect on what it means to live Franciscan values as we care for patients, families and communities across Louisiana and Mississippi.

The idea of Jubilee is ancient. Scripture describes it as a sacred time of forgiveness, restoration and renewal — a return to right relationship with God and one another. A Catholic Jubilee Year carries that same spirit forward, calling the Church to return to what matters most.

During this Jubilee Year, all are invited to:

  • Renew their relationship with God
  • Practice forgiveness and reconciliation
  • Make pilgrimages and participate in prayer
  • Grow in faith and service

Join us for this sacred year.

The Spirit of St. Francis, Still at Work

St. Francis of Assisi did not change the world through power or prestige. He changed it by living differently, with humility, simplicity, patience and gratitude, and by inviting others to do the same.

That witness is woven into the mission of FMOL Health. It lives on in the values that guide our ministry — service, reverence and love for all of life, joyfulness of spirit, humility and justice — and in the way our teams care for patients, families and communities across Louisiana and Mississippi.

This Jubilee Year invites all of us to return to those values with fresh eyes and renewed purpose.
