In the next three years we will invest nearly $100 million across all our campuses, through construction projects, technological advancements and process enhancements.

Our Lady of Lourdes Heart Hospital is undergoing a $25 million construction project, part of the Advancing Acadiana strategic growth plan, that will expand surgical capacity. As of Friday, September 26 at midnight, the Heart Hospital no longer offers Emergency Services. Rooms that we used for ER services are being repurposed to ambulatory bays supporting the pre- and post-operative needs of the hospital. The project also includes two new operating rooms, an electrophysiology lab and a new 8-bed inpatient unit.

As part of its $100 million Advancing Acadiana strategic investment, FMOL Health | Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital has expanded its Level III Surgical Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to include 19 private family suites, including two designed for twins. This project increases NICU capacity to 60 beds to care for the region’s tiniest patients.
Our Lady of Lourdes Women's & Children's Hospital has opened its modernized Mother-Baby Unit, expanding comfort, privacy, and family‑centered support for mothers and newborns. The upgraded unit enhances the postpartum experience with new patient rooms, advanced safety features, and amenities designed to strengthen early bonding and promote healing.
Amy Zeringue, MD, board-certified neonatologist and NICU director, and Alesha Alford, DNP, RNC-OB, vice president of women’s and children’s services, share how the NICU expansion at FMOL Health | Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital is transforming care for babies and families across Acadiana. With private NICU family suites and a more supportive, family-centered environment, parents can stay close to their babies, be part of the care team and focus on what matters most, helping their child grow stronger.
As part of our Advancing Acadiana strategic growth plan, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center is expanding to better serve our community. In March 2025, we opened 12 additional beds on our sixth floor, followed by an 11-bed expansion of our Emergency Department in September. Looking ahead, a ninth operating room suite is set to open in Fall 2025, further enhancing our surgical capacity and commitment to high-quality care.
Work on the 6th floor expansion project began in August 2024. In addition to the increased capacity, Our Lady of Lourdes has hired 25 new team members, including nurses, CNAs, therapists, social workers and more. The project was completed by local design firm Moliere Chappuis Architects and constructed by Kent Design Build.
Our Lady of Lourdes has been serving Acadiana since 1949. Lourdes is uniquely capable of being your healthcare partner across your full spectrum of life. We employ more than 2,800 team members, including a medical staff of more than 850 in a variety of medical surgical specialties.
