St. Dominic’s Pastoral Care Department

St. Dominic’s Pastoral Care Department includes a Catholic priest and a team of chaplains who are available to minister to all persons in need, regardless of religious preference. 

To contact a member of the Pastoral Care Department, call (601) 200-6915. Our office is located on the first floor of the hospital, near the south entrance. Pastoral Care hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. For spiritual needs outside of regular hours, call the operator at "0" to page the chaplain on call.

Chaplains visit patient rooms on a regular basis offering prayer, spiritual support and other spiritual resources to meet the needs of all our patients, families and visitors. Regardless of religious preference, you or your family may also request a visit from the Pastoral Care team at any time by calling (601) 200-6915. Communion is offered daily to Catholic patients. Television channel 5 broadcasts live Masses from the Chapel. Channel 5 also offers reflective images of nature and scenic destinations accompanied by soothing music to create a peaceful mood.

Chapel and Prayer Room

Our Chapel, located on Lakeland Drive directly across from the hospital, is open to the public for Mass on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 6:25 a.m., on Wednesday at 5 p.m., and on Saturday (Vigil Mass) at 4:30 p.m. For Mass times on Holy Days of Obligation, contact (601) 200-6915. A nondenominational Prayer Room for quiet reflection is located at the South Lobby entrance on the first floor. The prayer room is open 24/7. 

Prayer Opportunities

  • In-room visitation for all faiths upon request
  • Sacramental Care: Reconciliation (Confession), Holy Communion, Anointing of the Sick and Last Rites are available for Roman Catholics.
  • Patients of other faiths may make requests for Sacramental Care and other forms of prayer and spiritual support through our office at (601) 200-6915 or by talking with one of our chaplains.
  • Short-term/crisis pastoral support
  • Spiritual materials such as rosaries, English and Spanish Bibles, CareNotes and other resources are available upon request.
  • Daily recorded PrayerLine available 24/7 by calling (601) 200-6815.
  • Prayers offered over the intercom every morning and noontime.
  • Chaplains meet as a team at 3:30 p.m. daily to pray for petitions submitted by patients, families and staff. Petitions may be written down in the Prayer Room or the entrance to the Deli or called in to the Pastoral Care Office (601) 200-6915.
