Our OB hospitalists (OB doctors) are on-call at the hospital 24/7. They are available to evaluate obstetric emergencies, including review of test results and monitoring fetal heart rate. They also help manage day-to-day care by conducting rounds and discharging patients in a timely fashion.

Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital offers outpatient lactation support to moms through the first year and beyond. Our certified lactation consultant can assist you through all stages of breastfeeding. To schedule a consultation, please call (337) 470-BABY(2229). Appointments within seven days of discharge are complimentary. Additional appointments will require a doctor’s order and can be submitted to your insurance provider. To pay for appointments out-of-pocket, the cost is $75.
Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital now offers nutritional and dietary support for moms with dietary needs and restrictions for conditions like high blood pressure, gestational diabetes and hyperemesis gravidarum (extreme morning sickness). Our registered dietitian will also work with moms postpartum to establish a healthy diet to facilitate breastfeeding while helping to lose “baby weight.” This service requires a doctor’s order. The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Program at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital includes Acadiana's only dedicated intensive care unit equipped to treat obstetric, medical, genetic and surgical complications that may occur during high-risk pregnancies. To address the unique challenges of high-risk births, our maternal-fetal medicine experts are highly trained OBGYNs themselves, but with additional formal education and clinical experience.
