Exceptional NICU Care

When babies are born prematurely or with complex medical conditions, they require the highest level of specialized care. Our neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) have experienced, skilled and dedicated teams ready to help.

  • Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital

    Maternity & Obstetrics Care Team 

    Pediatricians, obstetricians, midwives, neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners and lactation specialists are on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure immediate care can take place for both mom and baby.

    Pregnancy Navigator

    The Pregnancy Navigator, a service provided exclusively at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital, is with you through all maternity. Moms at every stage can benefit from the attention, expertise, and knowledge this unique benefit provides.

    Your Pregnancy Navigator will assist with:

    • Selecting an OBGYN or Certified Nurse Midwife
    • Assist you in creating a birth plan
    • Connecting you with available resources based on your needs
    • Education on prenatal testing and assistance with pre-registration
    • How and when to select a pediatrician

    OB Hospitalist Program

    Our OB hospitalists (OB doctors) are on-call at the hospital 24/7. They are available to evaluate obstetric emergencies, including review of test results and monitoring fetal heart rate. They also help manage day-to-day care by conducting rounds and discharging patients in a timely fashion.

    Internationally Certified Breastfeeding Specialists

    Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital is a proud recipient of the Guided Infant Feeding Techniques (Gift®) certification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals and is a designated “Ban the Bags” Champion.

    Our certified, experienced lactation consultants are ready to help you make those important first steps on the road to successful breastfeeding for you and your baby. Speak to one of our experienced, internationally certified breastfeeding specialists at (337) 470-BABY(2229), option 4.

    Outpatient Breastfeeding Support

    Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital offers outpatient lactation support to moms through the first year and beyond. Our certified lactation consultant can assist you through all stages of breastfeeding. To schedule a consultation, please call (337) 470-BABY(2229). Appointments within seven days of discharge are complimentary. Additional appointments will require a doctor’s order and can be submitted to your insurance provider. To pay for appointments out-of-pocket, the cost is $75.

    Nutritional Counseling for a Healthy Lifestyle

    Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital now offers nutritional and dietary support for moms with dietary needs and restrictions for conditions like high blood pressure, gestational diabetes and hyperemesis gravidarum (extreme morning sickness). Our registered dietitian will also work with moms postpartum to establish a healthy diet to facilitate breastfeeding while helping to lose “baby weight.” This service requires a doctor’s order.     High-Risk Pregnancies

    The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Program at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital includes Acadiana's only dedicated intensive care unit equipped to treat obstetric, medical, genetic and surgical complications that may occur during high-risk pregnancies. To address the unique challenges of high-risk births, our maternal-fetal medicine experts are highly trained OBGYNs themselves, but with additional formal education and clinical experience.

    Acadiana’s ONLY Level III Surgical NICU

    The experienced, skilled and dedicated NICU team at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital is ready for babies who require the highest level of specialized care.

    Maternity & Obstetrics Care Team

    The team at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa has the proven expertise to care for situations that may arise before, during, and after your pregnancy and childbirth. Pediatricians, obstetricians, nurse practitioners and lactation specialists are on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure immediate care can take place right here for both mom and baby.

    Our team is ready to help guide you through pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum care. We can assist you with:

    St. Dominic's Hospital’s Maternal/Newborn department is committed to providing outstanding, patient-centered care for a wide range of health concerns for women and newborns. Our team of maternity specialists will be ready to share in the delivery of your miracle with the latest technology, caring hands and reassuring voices. Our nursing care will focus on your comfort and well-being, as well as that of your new baby and your family. Our team is here to cater to you and your baby. As members of your personal healthcare team, we are here to assist you in planning a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery.

    We always anticipate and plan for a healthy baby. However, complications can occur. At these times, you want the most up-to-date technology and highly-skilled professionals available at a moment’s notice. Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides quality care with Board Certified neonatologists and specially-trained nurses, social workers, respiratory, occupational and physical therapists.

    Our team is dedicated to providing babies with the highest level of care. Parents are recognized as part of the healthcare team and are involved in every decision made regarding the care of their baby.

    In the unlikely event mom needs extra care or is having any unexpected complications, St. Dominic’s is prepared with a fully equipped adult Intensive Care Unit, keeping you as close to your baby as possible.

    Level III NICU

    St. Dominic Hospital’s 23-bed NICU provides quality care with Board Certified neonatologists and specially trained nurses, social workers, respiratory, occupational and physical therapists.

    When you give birth at St. Francis Medical Center, the highest level of neonatal life-saving technology is down the hall from our labor/delivery suites. Our exceptional NICU team consists of nurses, neonatal nurse practitioners, neonatologists, respiratory therapists, case managers, and lactation consultants, along with physical and occupational therapists.

Pre-Register to Deliver
