Providing spiritual support for patients and their families is a big part of who we are and the care we provide at St. Francis Health. As part of a Catholic health system, we strive to minister spiritually to our patients.
Our Pastoral Care professional team includes Catholic priests and chaplains of other denominations who are available to minister to all persons in need. Unless you request otherwise, the Pastoral Care Department provides spiritual care according to your religious preference expressed at admission. Regardless of religious denomination, you and your family may request a visit from the Pastoral Care team at any time.
To contact a member of the St. Francis Pastoral Care Department, call (318) 966-4184. Our main office is located on the 5th floor of the downtown campus in Room 562. Pastoral Care hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. After 4:30 p.m., for emergencies, call the operator at "0" to page the chaplain on call. Chaplains will provide service at St. Francis P&S Surgery & Heart Center as well as St. Francis Community Health Center upon request.
Communion is offered daily upon request to Catholic patients. St. Francis provides religious programs on television channel 4, including daily Mass. This channel will inform you of services provided by the Pastoral Care Department, Chapel Services and Sacramental Ministry.
Located in the back of the hospital, our Chapel is open to patients, families and friends for prayer and meditation.
A nondenominational prayer room for quiet reflection is located directly outside the ICU waiting room on the second floor.
Spiritual materials, such as rosaries, Bibles and other spiritual reading material are available upon request
