Within the Greater Baton Rouge market, volunteer activities are tailored to the needs of each of our locations.

Criteria for Volunteering

All volunteers should:

  • Be friendly, approachable and professional
  • Be a good listener
  • Treat everyone with kindness, courtesy, and respect
  • Be dependable and punctual
  • Be fluent in the English language
  • Have a valid email address

Time commitment:

Your time is valuable, and we appreciate your willingness to share it with us. To provide an efficient and enjoyable experience we ask volunteers to pledge:

  • A six-month commitment to a mutually established schedule and activity.
  • Adherence to a weekly, 4 hour shift schedule

Applicants must meet the following criteria for acceptance into the Volunteer program:

  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Successful completion of a TB skin test or an authorized attestation form from your health provider.
    • TB Tests may be completed by a physician of your choice or performed at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center located in Baton Rouge.
    • Test results must be dated within the past 12 months to be considered current.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation
  • Receive a flu vaccine annually
  • Participate in an orientation

 

How to Apply

Application Process:

The Greater Baton Rouge market accepts volunteer applications year-round. However, activity opportunities vary by location.

The volunteer onboarding process takes approximately four weeks to complete. Initial applications are reviewed once a week and responded to in order of receipt. Once processed, candidates will be invited to a Q&A session with one of our team members at which time the process for obtaining the background check and required immunization tests will be discussed. Each candidate will have three weeks to complete the required testing. Applications not fully processed (completion of requirements) within four weeks will be made inactive.

Our service standards reflect the level of service we provide to every customer. The service standards apply to every hospital team member, including contract and temporary team members and volunteers. These standards apply for all customers, whether they are patients and their families, physicians, other employees or volunteers. We use them daily in every interaction with every customer. Using the service standards consistently is how we provide the outstanding service our customers expect and deserve.
